RAF Lossiemouth

RAF Lossiemouth Voluntary Band

The RAF Lossiemouth Voluntary Band was formed in 1971 at RAF Kinloss to provide musical support and opportunities for serving personnel. Today, following its relocation in 2012, the Band continues to support service engagements and give serving personnel access to various ensembles, specialist lessons and group coaching. The Band fields a brass band; a swing band; a German theme band; and various fanfare groups. Membership is made up of serving personnel from RAF Lossiemouth, as well as MOD civilians, ex-service personnel and people from the local community. Being the only RAF Voluntary (wind) Band in Scotland, the Band travels far and wide providing musical support for parades, dining-in nights, inspections and theme nights, while community support plays a particularly important part in the yearly diary of engagements with requests coming from all sections of the local community in the Moray area to support church services and fetes, as well as gala days, concerts and local music festivals.
