Waddington Wings

The term Wing originated in the RAF to denote a unit of command within a Station. At Royal Air Force Waddington there are currently three Wings (Base Support Wing, Engineering and Logistics Wing and Operations Wing) as well as a fourth deployable one, No 34 Expeditionary Air Wing. Each Wing is commanded by a Wing Commander and specialises in a different area of support to the station.
