Education

Davidwas educated at Nottingham High School where he completed A Levels inEconomics, Geography, French, General Studies and German and was a member ofthe Combined Cadet Force. Havingreceived sponsorship from the RAF, David went on to gain a BSc in InternationalBusiness at the University of Warwick. Whilst studying, he completed Elementary Flying Training on theUniversity of Birmingham Air Squadron at RAF Cosford.

Career

Davidjoined the RAF in 2005 and upon completing Advanced Flying Training, he wasselected to become a ‘Creamie’ Qualified Flying Instructor on 208(R) Squadronat RAF Valley, flying the Hawk TMk1. There, as well as instructing UK ab-initio students, David gainedCentral Flying School accreditation which enabled him to train instructors fromthe RAF and other air forces. Graduatingfrom Tactical Weapons Training on 19(F) Squadron in 2011, David was posted toIX(B) Squadron at RAF Marham, flying the Tornado GR4. This proved to be a rewarding tour as Davidspent time on overseas operations and took part in a number of large-scale,multi-national exercises in the UK, North America and the United Arab Emirates.

Asubsequent second tour on 208(R) Squadron was cut short following itsdisbandment but David was fortunate enough to train the final Hawk TMk1students in the UK. David was posted to100 Squadron at RAF Leeming in 2016 where he operated the Hawk TMk1 in anaggressor role, providing operational training for a wide variety of UK andforeign frontline units but primarily the RAF’s Typhoon Force. This is David’s first year on the team.

Background

Davidwas born in Geneva, Switzerland and spent some of his early life there beforehis family settled in Nottinghamshire. He is married to Siobhan, whom he met whilst studying for a year atuniversity in Paris. They are proudparents of 2 young sons and David spends most of his spare time trying to keepup with them both! A keen sportsman, heparticularly enjoys tennis, football and alpine skiing.
