Corporal Michael Knight

2017 Circus 7 Blues Age - 35

Education - Mike was born in Northampton and moved to Norfolk where he attended Middle and High Schools. He was a member of 222 (Broadlands) Squadron Air Training Corps while at school. After his GCSEs he attended Norwich City College studying engineering, welding and metal fabrication.

Career - Mike joined the Royal Air Force in September 1998. On completion of his Basic Training at RAF Halton he moved to RAF Cosford to undertake his Initial Airframe Trade Training. Michael’s first posting was to 39 (1PRU) Squadron at RAF Marham working on the Canberra PR9 and T4 aircraft and was given the opportunity to spend time with work in Denmark and Italy.

After completing his Airframe Fitters Course he was posted to RAF Coltishall’s Jaguar Hydraulic Bay until his posting to RAF Woodhall Spa. There he worked in the Jaguar Second Line Support (JSLS) Hydraulic Bay, seeing out the last year of the Jaguars front-line working life.

On promotion to Corporal he was moved to RAF Coningsby where he worked 2nd Line On-Aircraft on the Typhoon platform. After a tour to the Falkland Islands he was selected to join the Royal Air Force Aerobatics Team at RAF Scampton. During the 2014 50th Display Season he was given the privilege of being Dye Team Leader. This is now his fifth and final season with the team.

Background - Mike is married to Sarah and they currently live in Lincolnshire with their dog Trigger (Trig). He enjoys playing a variety of sports, mostly football but has also passed courses in Scuba Diving (BSAC) and Snowboarding. To relax he likes catching up with family and friends socially.
