Sergeant Scott Mackie

Education - Originally from Manchester, Scott moved to the Isle of Man at the age of 10. He attended Ballakermeen High School on the Isle of Man, leaving after his GCSE’s to join the RAF.

Career - Having joined the RAF in August 1996, after completing his initial training and basic trade training, he was posted to RAF Lyneham to work on the C-130K Hercules. During this time he travelled extensively around the world including North and South America, and to the Middle and Far East predominantly in support of the No Fly Zones over Iraq.

After further training, Scott was posted to RAF Waddington to work as a part of an aircraft modification team, working on many different types of aircraft including the Nimrod R1, Army Air Core Islander and BBMF Lancaster and Spitfire.

After this he was posted to work on fast jets and had tours on Hawks and Tornado GR4s at Scampton, Lossiemouth and Marham, including the famous No 617 Sqn.

A posting back to RAF Waddington found Scott working in an Engineering support office and he became heavily involved in the roll out of the Aviation Error Management System, working with the Squadrons to improve the safety and efficiency of personnel and the aircraft.

After a tour of the Falkland Islands, Scott was posted to the Red Arrows in January 2015.

Background - Scott lives in Lincoln with his wife Kirsty, children Lewis and Grace and their Beagle Hugo. Having recently completed an Engineering Degree he has started a Diploma in Psychology and after the 2017 season will be starting a Masters in Human Factors Ergonomics.
