Service personnel can benefit from membership of a credit union, which enables them to save direct from their pay. They are also able to take out loans at beneficial rates, where repayments will come direct from pay.
Defence has linked with three credit unions in a project known as Joining Forces and membership of these three is also open to Service spouses and veterans with a pension.
Whilst saving and borrowing are a private matter, the Services are keen to give its personnel the opportunity to save easily and to only borrow what they can afford, from reputable institutions.
Please click on the two posters below for more details; the first is a general poster about the project and the second is focused on those needing to save for a visa on completion of their service with the Armed Forces.
