Legacy giving

Legacy giving

From time to time regular worshipers, visitors, supporters and tourists remark upon the beauty of St Clement Danes, in terms of its spirit, its atmosphere, its worship, its role in the RAF of today and the history of this country. They often ask, how they can help the church today and then continue to help well into the future.

This commendable desire can now be supported through a process called legacy giving.

It is a very simple process and Solicitors are well versed in its application. As St Clement Danes is a charity the Church can now benefit directly from a gift in your will. This is how it is done:

How do I give in wills or legacies?

This can be ‘£x,000’ or ‘the proceeds of the sale of my house’ or ‘the residue of my estate after all other legacies have been paid’.

1. Wording for a PECUNIARY LEGACY.

I give to St Clement Danes, Strand, London WC2R 1DH, Registered Charity No. 250350, the sum of, £MONEY, free of Inheritance Tax for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer for the time being or other duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors.

2. Wording for a RESIDUARY LEGACY.

I give the residue of my estate to St Clement Danes, Strand, London WC2R 1DH, Registered Charity No. 250350, absolutely for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer for the time being or other duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors.

Your Solicitor can write these paragraphs into your will.

This form of giving helps your Charity and can offset some elements of taxation on your estate.
