BUAS Adventurous Training

BUAS offers the opportunity to take part and eventually lead a wide variety of Adventurous Training activities including Mountain Biking, Mountaineering, Climbing, Kayaking, Skydiving, Paragliding, Sailing and Skiing.

The location of BUAS in the South West of England allows us to make use of the wide variety of training available in the local area and in the spectacular scenery of South Wales, often through RAF Force Development Training Centre Crickhowell. There are opportunities to attain leadership qualifications during your time on BUAS that will allow you to lead your own expeditions both on and off the squadron.

Recent AT activities have included skydiving at Weston-on-the-Green and Paragliding in South Wales. There are also a wide variety of overseas AT Expeditions in which BUAS takes part, including a recent 2013 expedition to Bavaria.

'We spent 10 days at the RAF alpine lodge in Bavaria and participated in various alpine activities including hiking, mountain biking, climbing and canyoning. It was an amazing experience as I was able to try a lot of new things in an unusual environment with changeable weather. Being put in challenging situations such as abseiling down waterfalls definitely helped to improve my confidence and I was able to conquer a lot of nerves.' - Officer Cadet Adam Parfitt
