The New Accommodation Offer will now be known as the Modernised Accommodation Offer.
The MOD has listened and responded to feedback and challenge from Service Personnel on the Modernised Accn Offer. Those who currently receive a waiver of SLA charges will continue to receive it. No action is required to continue to receive a waiver if you are married and serving unaccompanied.
To introduce parity, the waiver of SLA charges will be extended to all SP who maintain a home beyond a reasonable daily commute from their place of duty with effect of 11 Mar 24.
Waivers will continue for at least 12 months whilst a fair and affordable alternative mechanism is scoped that encourages best use of the Defence SLA estate whilst continuing to financially support SP who are unable to commute daily from their place of duty.
MOD are updating their Comms/Messaging material over the next few days to reflect these recent changes, including the new Modernised Accn Offer title.
