The Allied Air Command based in Ramstein Air Base, Germany, welcomed UK Members of Parliament on the 4th November 2021, with the aim of the visit to better inform them of NATO’s role and how the RAF contributes to and supports the Alliance.

Hosted by Air Commodore Adrian Hill, Deputy Chief of Staff Support, Allied Air Command, the MPs are participating in the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme.  This initiative gives them the opportunity to improve their knowledge of the Armed Forces and gain a deeper understanding of the UK’s contribution to NATO and Allied Air Command.

The UK strongly advocates NATO’s 360-degree view with meaningful contributions to every Alliance operation.  Like all members NATO remains at the heart of national defence and provides the foundation of security in the Euro-Atlantic Area.

The RAF has been a long term contributor to NATO Air Policing with numerous fighter detachments to NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission and the enhanced Air Policing mission in Romania.  In addition to the UK commitment of forces to the NATO Response Force, the RAF routinely provide air transport, air to air refuelling and ISTAR support to NATO exercises and operations.
