British Forces personnel deployed across the Middle East have completed a series of challenging events in aid of UK charities.

Whilst on deployment, service personnel serving on Operations SHADER and KIPION have used their precious personal time away from their operational duties to support charities back home in the UK. In the baking hot Middle Eastern sun, military personnel have gone above and beyond to raise money for their chosen charities.
Operation KIPION personnel serving with 902 Expeditionary Air Wing based in the Middle East have completed an impressive 902 miles in 7 days for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a UK based military focused charity. To complete this colossal challenge, participants covered the distance by running, walking, rowing, or swimming, in temperatures often exceeding 50 degrees and with high humidity.
Sergeant Richardson, who is RAF Logistics Specialist, personally completed an impressive 219Km.
The Challenge really brought everyone at 902 Expeditionary Air Wing together and it was great to see everyone pushing themselves outside their comfort zone in aid of a great cause.

Personnel serving on 903 Expeditionary Air Wing at RAF Akrotiri also participated in a physical endurance event in support of Scotty’s Little Soldiers. Personnel had the choice to either row or cycle in order to achieve a total of 664km in 24hrs, which equates to the circumference of Cyprus.
Air Specialist 1 Hancock, an RAF Steward, took up the challenge with her colleagues and completed the 664km well inside the 24hrs allocated.
I was so pleased to see so many personnel from across the Detachment & Force Elements supporting this excellent cause, it was a great turn out and really great to bring everyone together.

Whilst deployed to 906 Expeditionary Air Wing, Air Specialist 1 Driver ‘Danger’ Brown, as he is known to friends and colleagues, has been hard at work training for an epic skateboarding charity challenge, in which he will skateboard 100 miles in 5 days over the period 8th to the 13th of August from Cirencester to the iconic London Southbank skate park on the banks of the Thames.
‘Danger’ Brown will be completing the challenge alongside his skateboarding partner Flight Lieutenant Fielding, who is a Puma Pilot based at RAF Benson. Together they hope to raise money for Severn Hospice, a charity that means a lot to them both.
Skateboarding is my passion and so incorporating this in a charity challenge to say thank you to Severn Hospice for the incredible support they offered to my uncle, and indeed to all of my family, in our time of need seemed obvious.
