Personnel celebrate the RAF's 105th birthday in the Middle East

Personnel from all three Services came together on Saturday 1 April to mark the 105th Birthday of the Royal Air Force.

Personnel deployed as part of 906 Expeditionary Air Wing in the United Arab Emirates, along with Joint Force Support (Middle East) and the Civil Sector (Civ Sec), joined with guests from the Australian Defence Force, the US Navy and the New Zealand Defence Force to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the Royal Air Force.

A BBQ was held for over 100 people, serving traditional beef burgers, sausages, steak, and salad with Sergeant Jones and Stephenson, and Air Specialist 1 Woolfitt keeping everyone suitably fed, before an evening of garden games and a raffle led by Sergeant Cullip and Boothby along with Pte Lockett.

The highlight of the evening was the auction of ‘money can’t buy’ prizes, such as the CO delivering coffee and cake to your desk.

It was a pleasure to share the event with our deployed colleagues and partner nations, everyone enjoyed the event, and it was a fitting celebration to celebrate the Junior Service’s birthday.
