Earlier this month, personnel from Number 47 Squadron headed to the Royal Air Force Club to present the Hercules commemorative painting to its new home.

The artwork was lovingly painted to honour over 56 years of service, by former Hercules pilot, Henley Johnson. The painting, entitled ‘Last Out’, has recently resided in both the Warrant Officers’, & Sergeants’, and Officers’ Messes at RAF Brize Norton, and celebrates the C-130’s exceptional Royal Air Force service, including its role as the last RAF aircraft out of Afghanistan.

Whilst a small ceremony saw the Assistant Chief of the Air Staff and Air Officer Commanding Number 1 Group welcome the painting, personnel also took the opportunity to pay their respects by laying a wreath at the nearby Bomber Command Memorial.

Finally, a well-deserved, and much delayed, Christmas dinner was enjoyed by all (no rest for the Hercules - even in its final few months!).
