Cadets in awe at BBMF visit

19 Jun 2019

It was a day to remember for 15 cadets from 2160 (Sleaford) Squadron

15 cadets and 4 staff from 2160 (Sleaford) Squadron recently visited the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.

The group had a tour of the historic fighter and bomber aircraft which were flown during the second world war and instrumental in protecting Great Britain.

The cadets also got to see the fully active aircraft hangar; they were divided into two groups and shown the treasure trove of priceless aircraft and memorabilia that make up the flight.

It was a fantastic opportunity to see the hangar in full flow and as the visit took place in the BBMF winter maintenance period, the engineers and crews were hard at work keeping the historically important aircraft serviceable for the coming season.

The group then got the chance to go into the visitor centre to buy memorabilia and look at the displays of historical importance.

Our thanks go to Sgt Joe Kelly for organising the trip and to the staff of the BBMF for giving up their free time to make this such a memorable visit.
