We are thrilled to share the incredible achievements of Cadet Corporal Poulton-Stowe, a cadet from 1245 (Cirencester) Squadron. At the recent Europe & Africa Championships, Cpl Poulton-Stowe put in an outstanding effort, securing three silver medals and placing second overall in the Under 17s - Juniors category. This remarkable achievement marks his first outing as part of Team GB.
Cpl Poulton-Stowe expressed his pride and honour in representing his country at the European and Africa Championships. He shared,
"I feel incredibly honoured and proud to represent my country at the European and Africa championships. I have trained hard and put a huge amount of effort in. I’m pleased I have made it this far and in the future, I hope to continue to improve. It is a very tough competition with strong winds and tough water, but I will try my best and enjoy the experience of my first international competition in Holland"
A team of 11 barefoot waterskiers, including nine male and two female athletes aged between 15 and 61, will represent Great Britain at the Europe & Africa Championships. This result is a testament to Cpl Poulton-Stowe's hard work and dedication. Jasper has now returned from France for the Team GB Training Camp. We wish him the best of luck and continued success at the upcoming European and Africa Championships in Holland.
Barefoot waterskiing at a competitive level is not for the faint-hearted. As the name suggests, competitors do not use skis, only their bare feet on the water. They are towed by a boat that generally travels faster than for other waterski disciplines, reaching speeds of up to 45 mph (72 kph). Like regular waterskiing, barefooters compete in three events: slalom (crossing the boat’s wakes from one side to the other repeatedly), tricks, and jump. In jump, all that matters is the distance achieved off the ramp and a successful landing.
