Northern Ireland tech-specialists encouraged to become volunteers

The city of Belfast was the venue for this year’s CyberUK 2023 Conference, which is seen as the UK’s flagship cyber security event run by the UK National Cyber Security Centre. On the fringes of the main event, and with the support of Air Officer Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland division of the aerospace, defence, security & space industry body, ADS Group, KPMG hosted a RAF Digital event in its Belfast offices.

The event allowed various RAF organisations to showcase their activities to the gathered audience of cyber, digital and technology industry subject matter experts. For the RAF Air Cadets, it provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the fantastic opportunities for volunteers that the air, space and cyber-focused organisation provides, with Northern Ireland Wing of the RAF Air Cadets actively looking for new volunteers as it looks to expand its current footprint.

Regional Commandant for Scotland and Northern Ireland, Group Captain Sohail Khan.

The RAF Air Cadets were represented by staff from both Northern Ireland Wing and the Aldergrove-based Astra Ground School, as well as the Regional Commandant for Scotland and Northern Ireland, Group Captain Sohail Khan.

"Belfast has an outstanding reputation as a centre for digital and technological development, and to have had the opportunity to speak to key personnel that were either part of local technology industries, or supported personnel employed within, was excellent." said Gp Capt Khan.

"We’re always seeking volunteers to lead and support the range of activities we offer our Air Cadets, and if we can encourage people from digital and cyber industry backgrounds, we can harness their skills to better deliver the offer to our Air Cadets.

"Northern Ireland Wing of the RAF Air Cadets has numerous units across Northern Ireland, and with ambitions to grow in the coming years, we’ll need more volunteers from all walks of life to support that ambition."
