NEW YEAR HONOURS LIST 2025 - MILITARY DIVISION
PROMOTIONS IN AND APPOINTMENTS TO THE MILITARY DIVISION OF THE MOST EXCELLENT ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE
As Members (MBE)
Flying Officer (Acting Flight Lieutenant) J.E. Laird - Officer Commanding 2184 (Upton) Squadron
Laird's impressive leadership has been paramount in shaping prominence of 2184 (Upton) Squadron in his socially disadvantaged community. Throughout his 26-year tenure as Officer Commanding, a role he still holds, he has demonstrated relentless dedication to fostering the holistic development of youth.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Laird's leadership is the mentorship that has inspired countless cadets from his Squadron to choose military careers. This speaks volumes to his ability to guide young people toward meaningful life choices that align with their passions and ambitions. His guidance has not only impacted the lives of these individuals but has also contributed positively to the defence and security of our Nation.
Furthermore, Laird's devotion to charitable causes is commendable. Having dedicated over 350 days to personally manage his community’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal stand, he has raised over £100,000 to support military veterans, underscoring his selfless community spirit.
