RAF Air Cadets now eligible for AFCET Academic Trust awards

The RAF Air Cadets is now on the list of organisations eligible for awards from the Armed Forces Communications Engineering & Technology Academic Trust (AFCET).

The other organisations being the Royal College of Defence Studies, the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom / Cranfield University, the Defence Intelligence Training Group and the Defence School of Communications and Information Systems.

The eligible courses are the RAF Air Cadets Cyber Gold and the Cyberfirst Gold and the award is a coin for ‘Best Cadet’, which is decided upon by the RAF instructors. Three award coins have been presented already this year and another is set for October.

This year’s awards were presented by AFCET trustee Mr Phil Williams who is the Information Managing Director for the MOD contracting company Team Defence.

The first recipient on 1 August 2025 was Sergeant Liam Allenby-Jones of 207 (Cranfield), the following week on 8 August the recipient was Flight Sergeant Oliver Wright of 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron, and the week after on 15 August it was Flight Sergeant Finley Bird of 27F (Chingford) Squadron (pictured).
