London Wing on St George's parade

Over 80 cadets from London Wing ATC gathered in central London to mark this year's St George’s Day.  The parade to commemorate the feast day of England’s Patron Saint was centred on the famous Cenotaph, in Whitehall.  Led by a band containing cadets from 31 (Tower Hamlets) Squadron plus others from the Wing’s No 3 Sector.  Joining the ATC cadets were some CCF(RAF) cadets from Kingsford Community School.

The cadets joined Sea, Army and Police cadets plus service veterans and others in the annual wreath laying and cadet parade organised by The Royal Society of St George.  Amongst many banners paraded was the one from London Wing in the care of Cdt Sgt Muawwiz Rawat of 296 (Stoke Newington) Squadron.

The senior RAF Air Cadet officer on parade was Sqn Ldr Mark Bird RAFAC, a Wing Sector Officer and OC 56 (Woolwich) Squadron.  He said that “it was a real honour to parade with the cadets today.  They were a credit to the organisation and the band was first rate.  Thank you all for giving up your time today”.

After the parade, Cllr Hamza Taouzzale, Deputy Lord Mayor of Westminster, spent time talking to the cadets.
