We are delighted to announce the appointment of Wing Commander Steve Fry as the new Regional Commandant for North Region. Wg Cdr Fry joins the RAF Air Cadets from his current post as Officer Commanding, No 600 (City of London) Squadron, RAuxAF at RAF Northolt.
Wg Cdr Fry is a career reservist, having served for 35 years in the Royal Navy Reserve before transferring to the RAF Reserve in 2020. Alongside being part time volunteer reservist, he has had a civilian career in finance, working for large corporates such as HSBC and Zurich, and latterly for himself with a small financial advice practice. This puts him in a good place to understand the challenges of our adult volunteers, balancing the demands of family, work and volunteering.
Speaking on appointment, Wg Cdr Fry said:
"I’m hugely excited to build on the great work of Gp Capt Leeming and the team. It will be incredible to work alongside the permanent staff and fantastic adult volunteers who give so much of themselves for the nearly 10,000 cadets across the region. I can’t wait to get started and meet you all - hopefully at some camps this summer."
