I started my cadet journey in 2022 at Hereford Cathedral CCF RAF Section. Joining as a nervous quiet cadet who wasn’t aware of all the life changing opportunities, RAFAC could give I decided to step out of my comfort zone by going on my First National camp, NASC 2024. Here, whilst completing bronze wings, I got recommended for a Gliding Scholarship and I went on to complete my solo in June the following year and becoming a Flight Staff Cadet at RAF Little Rissington 612 VGS straight away. Discovering how much I loved the RAFAC organisation I decided to join an ATC Squadron and have been at 124 Hereford City Squadron April 2025. I finished my CCF time as a CWO and Head of RAF CCF Section and with the honour of receiving The Sir John Thompson Memorial Sword after competing against many accomplished cadets each with there own amazing and unique cadet journey.
My highlight
RIAT 2025 was the most unforgettable experience of my cadet career. As my second National Camp, I arrived not knowing anyone, but I left with lifelong friends and memories I’ll never forget. Helping to set up and support the running of the airshow gave me a real sense of responsibility and showed me the importance of teamwork in delivering such a prestigious event. Meeting Air Commander Al Lewis for the first time was a real privilege and seeing so many incredible aircraft up close was inspiring, especially the U-2 Dragon Lady, which was the standout aircraft for me. Meeting all these amazing people in this environment = strengthened my passion for aviation and reminded me why I’m proud to be part of the RAF Air Cadets.
