Oxfordshire Air Cadets participate in Archery GB's Start Archery Week

On Sunday 11 May 2025, Air Cadets from Oxfordshire embraced the challenge of an afternoon archery session as part of Archery GB's Start Archery Week and a wider County training weekend.

Archery was part of a larger development weekend using dedicated facilities at the Cadet Residential Training Centre, Royal Air Force Little Rissington. On Saturday, other cadets successfully completed their Method of Instruction training or assessments, equipping them with the skills necessary to teach others effectively.

Archery Instructor Squadron Leader Holden said, “The session allowed cadets to develop their focus, precision, and teamwork. The cadets learned the fundamentals, including correct stance, aiming techniques, and we even presented a Silver Just Shoot award.”

Archery GB’s Start Archery Week is a national initiative that introduces new participants to the sport and showcases its accessibility, appeal, and benefits. The RAF Air Cadet facilities at Little Rissington were ideal, offering a safe and structured environment for cadet development.

Oxfordshire County Commander Squadron Leader Caffrey said,

“The RAF Air Cadet training syllabus programme offers diverse opportunities for growth and development. Weekends like this underscore the immense value of dedication, teamwork, and community spirit among the cadets and volunteers. The success of the Oxfordshire cadets in archery and instructional training is one example of what young people can achieve.”
