Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and current Government restrictions related to movement of people and social distancing, the FAM Pilot is unable to operate exactly as it was designed to. However, it will continue to support Service personnel (SP) with some small adjustments until Government restrictions are lifted and SP Assignment Orders (AOs) operate normally. All communications media is being updated and will continue to do so as circumstances unfold.
The Pilot Cells at HMNB Clyde, Aldershot Garrison and RAF Wittering will operate business as usual, albeit remotely, during this period which will allow those SP who have an operational imperative to move to do so, and ensure important Pilot management information is collated by the MOD. The following processes will continue:
- Accommodation Preference Forms (APF) should be completed
- Pilot payments and allowances (no new PRS payments will be paid)
Covid-19 Pilot changes
Although the Pilot will operate as normal, the following restrictions will apply until further notice:
- PRS applications will be processed but due to current Government Covid-19 restrictions SP will be informed that they should not take any further action (apply for PRS payments/deposits) until the FAM Cell notify them to do so.
- Once the Covid-19 Government restrictions are lifted, if an SP who has had to be allocated SFA during this period but would have taken the PRS option in normal circumstances, will have that choice to mid-tour move (at MOD expense subject to policy) should they choose to do so.
