The RAF Falcons displayed over the Queens Platinum Jubilee weekend with fantastic displays over a three-day period at Midlands Air Festival.
This spectacular aviation event is held in the beautiful surroundings of the historic Ragley Hall Estate, consisting of nightfire, weekend air displays and hot air balloon launches, an event certainly not to be missed.
The RAF Falcons thrilled the crowds by landing in sync in the “Ducks” formation, their first time displaying this move in the UK, led by team coach Flight Sergeant John Bruce.
First year Falcon Sergeant Sean McCabe said:
“It was amazing to debut our duck formation at Midlands Air Festival. The crowd were fantastic, it was great to meet and interact with the crowd following our jump. As a first year Falcon, putting all our training into practice to deliver our display to the sheer delight of the crowds is something that will most certainly stay with me. Hearing the cheering of the crowd as we decamped from the aircraft was most definitely something I won’t forget.”

Formed over 60 years ago, the RAF Falcons are the UK’s premier military parachute display team, based at RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, displaying at venues all over Britain and Europe throughout the year.
Third year Falcon Sergeant Bobby Menarry said:
“It was an absolute joy to be back jumping into Ragley Hall for this year’s Midlands Air Festival. My first jump as Falcon was into this very show and it’s been fantastic to see the show back at full capacity post COVID. The reception we received from the crowd was second to none and the show has become a real highlight for all RAF Falcons.”

Taking the salute today was event organiser Trevor Graham, Flight Lieutenant Stu Philpott led the team as the team presented themselves to him:
“The Midlands Air Festival holds a special significance for the RAF Falcons. It was our first display following the COVID Pandemic last year. The welcome we received was incredible. The air festival was also the first display we were able to showcase our signature simultaneous landing in the UK. We look forward to returning next year.”
