Royal Air Force Falcons Home Turf Jump for JET Graduates

On Thursday 19th May, the Royal Air Force Falcons Parachute Display Team made a return visit to home turf, jumping into RAF Brize Norton in front of visitors and a home crowd. The display was specially coordinated for visitors from the Jon Egging Trust, who provide support to vulnerable young people across the UK.

Students from the Jon Egging Trust were spending the day at RAF Brize Norton, learning about the opportunities and skills, which life in the Royal Air Force can bring, before being treated to the dynamic display by the RAF Falcons. The Jon Egging Trust’s Blue Skies Programme regularly organise visits to RAF Brize Norton,  providing young people who face barriers to learning, with support and access to inspirational teams such as the RAF Falcons.

Jumping from the team’s signature Dornier 228 aircraft, they wowed the students from the Jon Egging Trust in the sky, before letting the visitors get up close and personal with the team when on the ground. The team showed the students their parachutes and equipment and gave insight into life in the RAF, and the path to becoming an RAF Falcon.

The team have already had a busy start to the 2022 display season, with displays across the country, including Truckfest in Peterborough and the Balmoral Show in Northern Ireland.

The home display was particularly important for Sergeant Rob Menarry, 3rd year Falcon, who said:

“It’s great to perform our display back at our home base of RAF Brize Norton. We’ve already had a fantastic start to the season and the crowds have loved seeing us wherever we go, but there is always something special about doing it back at Brize. Even better, my own family got to come and watch too”
