Under the beautiful Suffolk sun and the keen eye of our esteemed judges the final four RAF Police Dog handler teams fought hard for the accolade of being crowned the 2024 RAF Police Military Working Dog Trials Champion.
Congratulations goes to RAF Police Corporal Cornell and Military Working Dog Ivan from RAF Coningsby. The team have been exceptional throughout the competition, and were thrilled to accept their trophy from Provost Marshal (RAF) Group Captain Samantha Bunn.
Coming in second place was Corporal S and Bak from RAF Akrotiri, and third place went to Corporal Duff and Dak from RAF Coningsby.
Throughout the week, competitors were tested in a variety of operational scenarios including core skills of agility and obedience, threat perception during day and night patrols, and a dog’s ability to detect and detain intruders through wind scent capabilities.
Other award recipients were:
- Corporal S and Bak from RAF Akrotiri won the RAF Benevolent Fund McConnell Cup, for Best Obedience and Agility.
- Corporal Greenfield & Eric from RAF Brize Norton won the Von Wolf Trophy for the Best Vehicle Search Team.
- Corporal Gleadle & Deny from RAF Waddington won the Drissell Trophy for the Best Police Dog Team.
- Corporal Greenfield & Tyson from RAF Brize Norton won the Lady Kemball Trophy for the Best Drug Detection Team.
- RAF Police Search Dog Milo won the Lady Kemball Trophy for the Best Arms and Explosive Search Team.
- RAF Marham won the Prestige Trophy for outstanding Military Working Dog section.
