Exercise Cobra Warrior 2025: Air Forces unite in multinational air exercise

The RAF wraps up three weeks of warfighting scenarios with partner nations showcasing the strength of international military collaboration.

Designed to simulate complex military strategies, against an adversary, Exercise Cobra Warrior saw land and air integration with French and RAF ground forces, and aircraft such as Typhoon, Lightning, Voyager, and Atlas employing advanced procedures in controlled landing zones.

The RAF is proud to play a leading role in mentoring international partners during Cobra Warrior, an initiative that has brought together participants from the French, Turkish, and Kingdom of Saudi Arabian Air Forces, some of whom are observing the exercise for the first time in its history.

Cobra Warrior also provided opportunities for the RAF Regiment to train alongside UK allies’ land forces, testing operational capability by rehearsing operations against adversaries.

Gunners from No II Squadron, part of the Combat Readiness Force, took a leading role demonstrating their expertise to protect airfields.

Their mission involved clearing and securing the airfield for Cobra Warrior, protecting the control tower and equipment support areas and ensuring the airfield remained operational.

The exercise provided a valuable opportunity to refine tactics, enhance interoperability, and strengthen combat readiness. By maximising training opportunities, II Squadron are honing their skills for future operations, including its vital role in supporting NATO’s Special Operations Air Task Unit, reinforcing their ability to operate in high-threat environments alongside allied forces.

Exercise Cobra Warrior strengthens our collaborative partnerships with allied nations, enhancing our ability to operate as a unified force. Through shared training, we refine tactics, deepen mutual understanding, and develop the seamless coordination necessary to fight together effectively in complex and evolving battlespace.
