As the Air Commodore in Chief to the RAF Regiment, we are immensely proud to have a close association with Her Majesty, whose father King George VI founded the RAF Regiment in 1942.

Along with his role as Defence Attaché and Head of the British Defence Staff United States, Air Vice-Marshal Smeath, has been appointed as the Commandant General of the RAF Regiment and said:

"It is an honour and a privilege to be appointed Commandant General of the Royal Air Force Regiment by Her Majesty The Queen. And it is made all the more special in this, the 80th year of the Corps formation. The Corps is as relevant now as it was when it was established by Royal Warrant in 1942, and continues to be an integral part of the Royal Air Force.

I look forward to supporting all of those serving and retired alike, and wish the previous Commandant General, Air Commodore Scott Miller, all the very best on his retirement from the Royal Air Force. Per Ardua."
