Two RAF Officers currently deployed on Operation SHADER arranged a raffle evening and raised considerable funds for the RAF Benevolent Fund.
Flight Lieutenant Adam Hayler and Flight Lieutenant Craig Nicholls are both part of 903 Expeditionary Air Wing. To boost morale and provide entertainment to deployed personnel, Adam and Craig staged a COVID-19 compliant function with live music, food, and a raffle draw.
The event would not have been such a success without the kind donations received for the raffle. Signed memorabilia was sent by Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club and the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team. RAF Akrotiri Rugby Club also gifted some of their vests and local restaurants provided vouchers.

Adam and I wanted to provide an afternoon of entertainment with good food and live music for personnel to enjoy. Adam and Craig raised €1000 for the RAF Benevolent Fund, which supports all serving and former members of the RAF as well as their partners and dependent children. The funds raised will contribute towards welfare breaks, grants to help with financial difficulty and mental health support, as well as providing specialist advice on benefits and support programmes for young people.

UK Armed Forces are deployed to the Middle East to support counter Daesh operations as part of the 83-member strong Global Coalition. Raising money for charity can build a community spirit amongst the deployed personnel and supports the resilience of our personnel whilst they are away from their family and friends delivering Air Operations.
