NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission Rotation Ceremony

At a ceremony at Ämari airbase the RAF were thanked by the Estonian Minister of Defence Mr Juri Luik for their professionalism and commitment during their 4-month air policing mission.

Representing the RAF, Air Marshal Mayhew CBE stated how seriously the United Kingdom takes Estonian independence and how committed the UK is to Estonia. The Air Marshal added that this year was NATO’s 70th year and that the UK is takes its commitment to that organisation very seriously.

Finally, the Air Marshal welcomed the Czech Air Force detachment that took up air policing duties on 1 September, pointing out that 79 years ago the RAF and Czech pilots were flying alongside each other in the Battle of Britain.
