Amateur Photographers
Photographs taken by amateurs specifically tasked to take photographs by their chain of command, or others with a responsibility to ensure such photographs are taken, are Crown Copyright. The copyright in photographs taken by amateurs, where this is not their job, or not a particular tasking or duty, are the property of the individual. Amateurs entering photographs for the Competition must be certain that their submission has no security implications.
Where the copyright belongs to an individual, it is a condition of entry to the Competition that you grant to the Crown a free, irrevocable, perpetual licence to use the image for any Crown purpose and to commercially license third party sponsors of the Photographic Competition to use the image for their commercial marketing and publicity purposes.
Where the submitted entries are in a digital format, you are required to incorporate the above licence conditions in the data file.
