RAF Rugby 7s travel to India

In early March 2020, the RAF Rugby 7s Spitfires travelled nearly 5,000 miles across the world to coach and play rugby in India as part of a Foreign & Commonwealth Office outreach programme.

They also worked with the amazing Indian charity Khelo Rugby, coaching 100s of children as well as competing in the Bangalore International Rugby 7s tournament.

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for the new Spitfires members to not only share their rugby knowledge, but to also learn and develop as individuals and members of the RAF as they’re taken far away from their comfort zones.

The trip was non-stop! With new cultural experiences, rugby action and language differences as the team swapped the cold British winter for the sweltering Indian heat, but this is nothing compared to the difficulties faced daily by the children the Spitfires coached.
