Red Arrows make Jacob's dream come true

Five-year-old, Jacob had his wish come true today when he met the Red Arrows at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT). Jacob’s dad, Andrew, had posted a tweet on Friday asking pilots at RIAT to salute Jacob when he saluted them. Dressed in a green flight suit, Jacob thought he might get one or two salutes on the day.

The Red Arrows knew they could go one better, so invited Jacob and his dad to join them on the flight line in front of their iconic Hawk jets.

“This is amazing, I can’t believe I’m meeting the Red Arrows.”

When Jacob saluted, all the Reds returned the salute before they headed off for their final domestic display for the crowds at RIAT.

Final preparations are being made for the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team’s biggest-ever tour to North America. The Red Arrows leave for Canada and the United States in just over two weeks, expecting to depart the United Kingdom on August 5.

More than 25 cities will be visited by the team across the 11-week deployment, which is aimed at promoting the best of British and supporting trade, business and defence interests.
