Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Information for all Whole Force personnel and the wider RAF Family

This is where we will be providing up to date links through to Government Guidelines on what everybody needs to be aware of.

Following the announcement ordering the closure of UK schools, the Government has now defined ‘key workers’ as those contributing to public safety and national security as:

‘Police and support staff, Ministry of Defence civilians, contractor and armed forces personnel (those critical to the delivery of key defence and national security outputs and essential to the response to the COVID-19 pandemic), fire and rescue service employees (including support staff), National Crime Agency staff, those maintaining border security, prison and probation staff and other national security roles, including those overseas.’

That definition remains quite broad for the armed forces and so further work is underway to define ‘those critical to the delivery of key defence and national security outputs and essential to the response to the COVID-19 pandemic’. Clarification of the definition of ‘key workers’ will be cascaded as soon as practicable.
