Remembrance Commemorations From Across the Nation

Over the past few weeks, RAF personnel have joined veterans, families and their local communities to commemorate Remembrance in many different ways.

From traditional services of Remembrance to parades and walks involving our personnel, here is a look back at just some of the events that took place.

Apart from being the 170th anniversary of the first dedicated military railway, it is the sixth anniversary of the Routes to Remembrance event - 'Poppies to Paddington.’ Cadets, service personnel and veterans lay wreaths at train stations up and down the United Kingdom. Wreaths from Cornwall honouring the ‘Dambuster’ Wing Commander Guy Gibson VC were also laid at the Bomber Command Memorial in London.

“As a former member of the RAF, taking part in Poppies to Paddington for the first time is deeply moving. What began in 2020 as a small act to help one elderly veteran in Cornwall take part in remembrance has grown into The Routes of Remembrance, now spanning continents. This year we’ve added Antarctica, Asia, and South America — a true testament to the spirit of our armed forces family and our enduring promise to always remember.”
