InsideAIR aims to give a ‘behind the wire’ view of the RAF, its people, technology and operations.
Its producer, Flight Lieutenant Peter Lisney, says the fortnightly podcast will not only keep RAF personnel, Civil Servants and contractors up to date with developments within the Service, but will also provide an insight into the unsung work of the Whole Force. “Aviation is the common denominator, but the RAF is a richly diverse organisation,” said Flight Lieutenant Lisney, a Media Reservist.
“In our first episode we talk with a junior officer who has been in the RAF for just four years and is now at the cutting edge of what we are doing in space. In our third episode we talk with a padre on operations who reveals why she never goes anywhere without a bag of Haribo.”

InsideAir’s production team hopes the podcast’s number one subscriber will be Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Mike Wigston. “With many of our people working remotely at this time, InsideAIR will help us all stay connected. With 16 per cent of UK adults now listening to podcasts weekly (OFCOM, 2020) and InsideAIR being freely available to download, it is expected that a large proportion of listeners will be those with an RAF connection or an interest in aviation and technology.
