The Chief of the Air Staff visits RAF personnel deployed in Romania

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier, visited the RAF personnel deployed in Romania, conducting the NATO Enhanced Air Policing (eAP) mission.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier was greeted by a guard of honour, before inspecting the Royal Air Force and Romanian Air Force troops who were formed up on parade. A Typhoon and Mig-21 LanceR aircraft performed a joint flypast during the event

135 Expeditionary Air Wing is based at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base in Southern Romania, to conduct Enhanced Air Policing mission over the black sea region alongside the Romanian Air Force MiG21-LanceR aircraft.

The Chief of Air Staff was shown around the EAW Headquarters by Wing Commander Ball, and also took the opportunity to speak with 135 Expeditionary Air Wing personnel about their involvement on the enhanced Air Policing mission and their experiences.
