About Central Pillar
The Central Pillar, which includes the Commanding Officer, Chief of Staff and Unit Warrant Officer, directs, governs and administratively manages the Unit. Sitting within this is HQ Squadron, who deliver the support function that enables 90SU's outputs. It is the front door to the unit, providing tasking and deployment authority as well as logistics and resource support. HQ Sqn’s mission is to support TCW and OpISW in the delivery of homeland and expeditionary and operations.
About Tactical Communications Wing
Tactical Communications Wing (TCW) is the expeditionary arm of 90SU and generates Force Elements at Readiness, to enable Information Advantage for Air’s deployed operational commanders. The wing was formed over 50 years ago, originating from lessons identified in the 1956 Suez Crisis. TCW has been involved in all the RAF's major military operations since 1969 and currently has teams of personnel deployed around the world.
About Operational Information Services Wing
OpISW’s largest output is the Air Cyber and Information Services Operations Centre (CyISOC), which is responsible for assuring freedom of action in cyberspace, defending against cyber threats, and managing and maintaining essential networks in support of RAF operations in the UK and overseas. OpISW also has the lead for capability development and innovation, exploiting technology to develop innovative solutions to complex digital challenges facing the RAF and Defence.
