Ascension Island Base shows solidarity for Cancer Awareness with pink at work day

On 23rd and 24th of October 2025, the military detachment on Ascension Island came together in a vibrant show of support for Pink at Work Day, proudly wearing pink t-shirts to raise awareness and funds for the St Helena Cancer Support and Awareness Charity.

This heartfelt initiative saw personnel from across the base unite in pink, demonstrating that even while deployed, service members can actively engage with and positively impact the communities they are part of. The event was not only a visual statement of solidarity but also a successful fundraising effort, with a total of £376.19 raised for the charity.

A key contributor to the fundraising was the Air Movements Flight, who wore their pink shirts during both the northbound and southbound legs of the South Atlantic Schedule. They collected donations from passengers on these flights, which were included in the overall total.

This initiative highlights the strong community spirit and compassion of the deployed personnel at Ascension Island Base. Their efforts serve as a reminder that meaningful engagement and support for important causes can continue, regardless of location or operational commitments.
