Family Contact and Temporary Accommodation

There is a house which RAF personnel can use.  The house can be used for emergency family accommodation visits from children of divorced or separated personnel, weekend and school holiday visits from family members, and temporary accommodation when moving into or out of permanent service families accommodation.

The bedroom house are outside the wire on East Camp.

RAF and Civil Servants can make bookings.

Medical centre

The Medical Centre on the Station is for RAF personnel only.

Dependants are able to register provided they meet certain criteria.

SSAFA PS&SWS RAF

SSAFA Personal Support & Social Work Service RAF (PS&SWS RAF) is contracted by the RAF to provide welfare support to all serving personnel (regular and reserves) and their families. Our team of specialist Personal & Family Support Workers and Social Workers are located on stations in the RAF community throughout the UK.

Our service is confidential and independent from the Chain of Command. It is the aim of our service to support you to enhance personal welfare, maintain family stability and empower you to access the support networks you are entitled to.

Our service can support you with a range of issues including addiction & dependency, child support, financial, housing, mental health, personal support, physical health and relationships.

Anyone can refer themselves to SSAFA.

Chaplains

The chaplaincy is based within the multi-faith facility on East Camp of the Station.

Sports

STATION GYM

The gym has a fitness suite and two weight lifting areas along with a variety of lunchtime and evening classes.

You can join the Station gym if you’re a dependent of a member of RAF personnel but you'll need to ask your spouse or partner to apply for RAF ID if you want to use the gym and sports facilities unaccompanied by RAF personnel.

The gym operates a key fob system.

RAF St Athan Golf Club is open to members of the public as well as RAF personnel and their families.

The Community Centre

The Community Centre has regular activities, including pre-school groups, children’s activities, youth clubs and adult fitness classes.

Bars and Cafes

The bars and cafés on the Station are open to dependants of RAF personnel. You'll need to ask your spouse or partner to apply for RAF ID for you if you want to use them unaccompanied by RAF personnel.

The Black Buck Club

The Black Buck Club is the only bar on Station.

It opens at the weekends to show live sport. These times are advertised in the bar.      

Children and young people

West Camp Community Centre

West Camp Community Centre provides a youth club which has been split into 2 age groups so that the activities are more age appropriate.

For 5 years to 10 years inclusive from 4pm to 5:45pm.

For ages 11 and above from 6pm to 7:30pm.

There are lots of activities available including pool, table tennis, arts and crafts, team games and cooking.

The cost of youth club is £1 and there is a tuck shop available with very low prices. We suggest a maximum of £1 and there will be free squash throughout the evening.

The Spar shop on the Station is open to spouses and partners of RAF personnel who have RAF ID.
