Continuous Training

As a Force Element at Readiness (FE@R), the training at Airfield Radar Flight never ceases. We constantly develop our personnel to ensure they have the necessary knowledge to deploy and maintain our highly deployable assets. This includes Ground to Air radios, Primary and Secondary Surveillance Radars, Airfield Beacons, and a mobile Visual Control Room.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our Task and Training Coordination team and our @Readiness teams have been working hard to ensure the Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) levels are maintained, and that our tradesmen remain highly competent on the equipment.

We do this by teaching a comprehensive syllabus, delivered by in-house Defence Workplace Trainer qualified personnel. This covers everything from critical safety information and siting requirements to preventative and corrective servicing, ensuring our equipment is upheld to the highest standard and providing operational effectiveness when required.

Alongside Defence Workplace Training, our Task and Training Coordination team has been working hard to improve SQEP amongst some of the more unique aspects of our roles. One of the headlines of this training is Recce training, where personnel are taught the process from initial tasking through to the final siting of the asset(s). This kind of training ensures a highly effective, skilled, and qualified workforce, at permanent readiness to self-sustain and deploy with ease.
