It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Flight Sergeant Stephen Curran, who sadly passed away on Wednesday 5 November 2025, whilst serving as the Assistant Defence Attaché in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Flight Sergeant Stevie Curran was an Air and Space Operations Manager who joined the Royal Air Force in November 2007. Having served at multiple UK stations, Stevie also undertook multiple operational tours, where he was known for his infectious zest for life, and desire to succeed.

“The sad news of Stevie’s passing has sent shockwaves throughout the Air and Space Profession, and more broadly, across the Service. Having known him both personally, and professionally, for 17 years, I know that Stevie has touched the hearts of so many people. His passion for football, was but one pursuit where he demonstrated team ethos in abundance and will be fondly remembered.
Stevie strove for perfection in everything he did, and was a fiercely loyal, and dedicated friend, to all. Words cannot express the void that he has been left, and he will be sorely missed. Never afraid of adventure and exploring places untouched by tourism….. One last adventure my dear friend”.

“During his time at the British Embassy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Flight Sergeant Stevie Curran was a dynamic and inspiring presence whose enthusiasm and positivity touched everyone around him. Despite the challenges of working overseas in a different language and culture, he demonstrated an exceptional ability to unite people, motivating those he worked with to achieve their best both professionally and personally. A consummate professional, Stevie’s dedication and expertise stood out in every task he undertook, and his contributions to the Embassy team were consistently of the highest standard. Beyond his technical excellence in the Defence Section, he was a pillar of team spirit, always ready to support and uplift others. His loss will be profoundly felt across the Service, and his legacy of professionalism, leadership, and camaraderie will endure.”

“We are so deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Flight Sergeant Stevie Curran. Stevie arrived in June, full of enthusiasm for his new role as Assistant Defence Attaché, a milestone that reflected his dedication and professionalism. From the moment he joined us, Stevie’s warmth and personable nature shone through. He quickly became an integral part of the British Embassy team and the international defence community, building friendships and earning respect across all who had the privilege to work with him. His energy, optimism, and commitment were evident in everything he did. His absence will be felt deeply and I will remember Stevie not only for his service but for his character—his kindness, his dry wit, and his ability to bring people together”.
