North Macedonian Chief of Defence Visit

Recently, the North Macedonian Chief of Defence visited RAF Boulmer to see the RAF’s Air Surveillance and Control System used to detect, identify and respond to potential threats in or near UK airspace.

Personnel from 19 Squadron, 20 Squadron, and 144 Signals Unit hosted the North Macedonian Chief of Defence, Lieutenant General Gjurchinovski, and Deputy Commander of the Air Brigade, Colonel Chkorov, at the RAF’s Control and Reporting Centre in Northumberland.

The visit provided a demonstration of the Guardian Command and Control system which enables timely and accurate decision making in policing UK airspace.

Deputy Commander Air Command & Control Force, Wing Commander David Prutton, said:

This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Guardian system to some of our NATO allies. The system allows us to defend UK and NATO airspace from air threats and to communicate effectively with our international partners, capabilities vital to effective command and control across NATO and beyond.
