ON Sunday (5th Jun), Royal Air Force Boulmer joined up with Longhoughton Parish Council for a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Friends and Families Day. The day presented an opportunity to say thank you to our personnel and their support networks for all the hard work they have done in the last 12 months and celebrate the life and service of Her Majesty the Queen on the 70th anniversary of her coronation.
Guests were treated to an array of activities throughout the day which included dodgems, a climbing wall and face painting.
RAF Boulmer Station Commander, Group Captain David Keighley said:
“It was a wonderful day, and it was great to see the whole Longhoughton Community turn out in force. Without their continued support it would not be possible for our Service personnel to continue to defend the skies above the UK 24/7/365.
My thanks go out to the organising committee, whose meticulous planning and hard work resulted in a fantastic event to honour Her Majesty the Queen on the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee.”
Adrian Hinchcliffe, chair of Longhoughton Parish Council, said:
“The event was a great success and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee was a fitting occasion for the RAF and the Longhoughton community to come together. Longhoughton Community and Sports Centre was a very suitable location for holding the event thanks to the agreement and involvement of the Trustees. The RAF team worked tirelessly during the day in setting up and taking down and I am extremely grateful for their contribution.”
