It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sergeant Steven Vout who passed away on the 16 May 21.

Steven was diagnosed with stage 4 Glioblastoma in August 2020 and has been receiving treatment ever since.

He will be sorely missed by all those who knew and worked with him.

Station Commander RAF Boulmer, Group Captain Keighley said:

‘I am deeply saddened by the news of Sergeant Vout’s passing after many months of illness.  His courageous battle against cancer has given hope and inspiration to countless others across the Country.  The thoughts of all of us here at RAF Boulmer, and across the wider RAF, are with his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.’

Sgt Vout leaves behind his wife Rita, Mum and Dad Alison and Ken, sister Melissa Barnard, brother-in-law Kevin and nephew Ethan and nieces Kirsten and Tamzin.

Sgt Vout’s funeral will be a St Bartholomew’s Church, Newbiggin by the Sea Friday 4th Jun at 1330 followed by a cremation at Blyth Crematorium at 1430. Due to COVID restrictions, the church service is limited to 30 invited people. However, you are welcome and encouraged to line the route from Sgt Vout’s home leading up to the Church to pay your respects.

If you are a current serving member of the Armed Forces, please wear your No1 uniform with medals. You are all welcome to attend a wake, after the Crematorium at 12 North View, Newbiggin to celebrate Steven Vout.

Family flowers only at the funeral, but should you wish to make a small donation please support St Oswald’s Hospice, Gosforth who provided so much care to Steven in the final days of his fight.
