On Wednesday 9th October 2019, Number 4624 Movements Squadron held an Employer Engagement Day, to show supportive employers how the RAF Reserves utilise their employees.
The day itself consisted of a blend of discussion lead topics and the opportunity to visit areas the Reservists find themselves working or training in, including the Squadron Headquarters and a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft.
Wing Commander Bev Peart, Officer Commanding No. 4624 Squadron said:
“Today’s event has provided a great opportunity for some of our civilian employers to visit RAF Brize Norton to see what their employees do whilst working with the RAF. It has been a great success with a valuable exchange of ideas that will enhance the already strong relationship between 4624 Squadron, our Part Time Volunteer Reserves and their employers.”

Supportive employers are essential to the Squadron’s ability to recruit, retain and work with Reservists. The day concluded with a presentation on how the RAF further develop personnel in areas such as communication, teamwork and leadership and how these can be taken into their civilian employment.
Kate Lole, Regional Employer Engagement Director, provides the link between the MOD and employers supporting Defence through the Armed Forces Covenant, the Employer Recognition Scheme and Reservist employees. Commenting on the event, she said:
“Thank you for a great day. I thought it was excellent. A really good mix of information sharing, interesting activities and opportunities to network.”
