Change of Command at RAF Brize Norton

Today, we welcome Group Captain Emily Flynn who joins RAF Brize Norton as the new Station Commander.

Group Captain Emily Flynn commissioned into the RAF in 2000 and most recently carried out a role as the Military Assistant to the Vice Chief of Defence Staff.

Group Captain Emily Flynn said:

“I am delighted to assume command of Royal Air Force Brize Norton today and I am both humbled and privileged to have the opportunity to work alongside you. Brize Norton’s output, whether delivering air mobility across the globe or by the many supported units on the Station, is phenomenal. I look forward to working with all of you during my tour as Station Commander.”

Reflecting on Group Captain James’ time at RAF Brize Norton; there has been a wide range of events and challenges from delivering aid to victims of cyclone Idal to celebrating Station personnel during award ceremonies and, most recently, leading the Station through COVID-19.

Group Captain Dan James said:

“I've had a hugely enjoyable time, and we have achieved some amazing things during my time here. We should all be proud of what we have achieved but more importantly what we have achieved as a Station. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
