On Tuesday, 16th April 2019, RAF Brize Norton's Station Commander, Group Captain Dan James presented commendations and awards at the Honours and Awards ceremony to personnel from across Station.
Forty people were recognised for their achievements at the ceremony which was held in the Sergeants’ Mess and attended by friends and family.
One of the recipients was Mrs Leanne King, our very own Deputy Media and Communications Officer.
Leanne was recognised for continued commitment of being a Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Volunteer, something she has undertaken since 2014. Leanne originally served on the RAF St Mawgan Service Committee and is now currently on the RAF Brize Norton Service Committee. Three other committee members were also awarded for their long service as a SSAFA Volunteer.
“Over the last five years I have been involved in numerous volunteering and fundraising activities to help raise the profile of SSAFA, and I feel proud to be receiving this award today. The support SSAFA can provide to the Military Family is incredible and it is very rewarding to fulfil a volunteering role and make a real difference to those people in need.”
