Lechlade Duck Race 2019 was a Huge Success

On a glorious Bank Holiday Monday thousands of plastic ducks took to the Thames for the 2019 Lechlade Duck Race.

Organised by volunteers from RAF Brize Norton, the fun family fundraiser returned to Riverside Park for this year’s even bigger and better event. The day featured a wide variety of attractions, including fairground rides, a mobile farm, static helicopter, food and drink stalls, inflatables and face painting.

But the main draw is the duck race itself, which will see around 4,000 plastic ducks released onto the Thames and carried by the current to the finish line.

Spectators were able to sponsor a duck and the lucky winner received a cash prize of £300, along with a whole host of other prizes for the runners-up.

“This is a wonderful family event which brings the whole community together and it was great to see so many people come out to support it. We would like to thank everyone who joined us for helping us to raise such a fantastic amount for our chosen charities. It’s wonderful to see so many people having so much fun and makes all the hard work worthwhile. We are also extremely grateful to Bloor Homes and our other sponsors, without whose support this event would not have been possible.”
