The team initially set out to collectively cover 1,407km, the distance from Lands End to John O’Groats. With each member of the team individually completing at least 140km over a 14-day period within their local area to comply with Government guidelines.

Amazingly, the team managed to cover a total distance of 1,555.11 km and they raised a total of £941.

Event organiser, Corporal Rob Thomson said:

“I have to congratulate each member of the team for their efforts during this challenge, we are a group of mixed abilities, but everyone pushed themselves and we were able to smash the target.

"I am also astonished with the level of support people have shown us for this event and grateful for every donation we received.

"You can see how vital an organisation like Helen and Douglas is to the Oxfordshire community, especially when you set up these events, there were hundreds of people who took time out of their day to send messages of support and share their story about how the charity has had an impact on their personal lives. On behalf of the Logistics Squadron Charity Committee, thank you for your continued support.”

Helen and Douglas House support families from surrounding counties and as far as London, they provide care for terminally ill children and young adults in one special hospice and through their outreach service. At Helen House, the world’s first children’s hospice, they care for babies and children up to the age of 18.

Officer in Charge Logistics Squadron Charities Committee, Flying Officer Danielle Green said:

“We are in very challenging circumstances living with the ‘new normal’ on the back of COVID-19. However, we must not forget that charities still require our help. The Logistics Squadron team, who took part in running the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats in 14 days, have done a fantastic job to raise over their target. I’d like to thank the team for their individual efforts and to everyone who has supported Helen & Douglas House.”
